The Frogtown Food Shelf opened its doors in July 2025 to meet this challenge head-on. We believe that everyone deserves access to good, healthy, and culturally-relevant food. In just our first four months, the need has been clear, and the community's response has been incredible.

Since July, we have:

  • Served 1,063 of our neighbors

  • Distributed 10,842.66 pounds of food (that's over 5 tons!)

  • Offered a choice of 92 unique items, ensuring families can get the food that's right for them.

We're not just moving boxes; we're providing nourishment, dignity, and stability. And thanks to our amazing partnerships and efficient operations, we're doing it at an incredibly low cost of just $4.84 per visitor.

The Need is Still Growing

While we're proud of this impact, we know the challenge is growing. The end of emergency SNAP benefits means more and more families are turning to us—their local food shelf—as their primary line of defense against hunger.

To meet this escalating need, we must be able to purchase food directly. While donations and government commodities from our partners at Second Harvest Heartland and TEFAP are a huge help, direct funding allows us to buy the specific items our community needs most: fresh produce, high-demand proteins, and specialty items that are essential for good health and cultural meals.

An investment in the Frogtown Food Shelf is an investment in the health and strength of our entire community. We are on the front lines of this hunger cliff, and with your support, we can ensure that no one in Frogtown has to choose between paying their rent and feeding their family.
